Rotary pathway
An extension of the Rotary pathway has just been completed along Westshore Beach. This extensive network covers many kilometres around Hawke's Bay.
Hundreds of kilometres of cycleways have been completed recently. The start and end point for our newest 200m down the road takes you round the Ahuriri Estuary, Hawke's Bay Airport and out to Bayview.
Bike hire operators will drop off and pick up bikes from our motels.
Many kilometres of the cycleways are off-road and provide a safe ride for all ages and levels of skill.
Nearby at Eskdale we have the Eskdale Forest Park Mountain Bike challenge, again a variety of tracks for all skill levels.
Cedar Court Motel has ample storage for your bikes and good areas for washing down your bike after your off-road adventures.
Hawke's Bay Estuary wetland & habitat
The Hawke's Bay Estuary wetlands & habitat, like so many of their kind throughout the country, has been under threat for many and varying reasons. The Bayview/Westshore accommodation providers have entered into a partnership with the Deptartment of Conservation and the Ahuriri Estuary Protection Society to help protect and enhance this delicate environment for the remaining species of resident and migratory birds and for the enjoyment of future visitors to the Hawke's Bay. This is the only significant wetland so close to a major city.
Did you know the Ahuriri Estuary in Napier is a NZ feeding ground for the Northern Siberia to Alaska, Bar Tailed Godwit (Kuaka). It makes the longest non-stop flight of any bird - 11000km in 5-6 days arriving late September. When the Godwits are ready to migrate south, they wait for storms that provide them with 40-80 km/h tail winds for the first 1600km. They return to the northern hemisphere to breed three months later.

We are conveniently situated 100m from Napier’s only safe swimming beach.
Take a 5-minute stroll to the hub of Ahuriri character area with the entire nightlife/restaurants/café scene within a small area. Fishing and children’s activities are also within the area.
Our location opposite the Ahuriri Estuary is an added bonus – this is a nature reserve and offers easy walks from 500m to 4.5km.
We are an easy drive to many fabulous wineries – several operators will collect you from the motel for guided tours.
